Handcrafted Connections-Art by Japanese Children

This exhibition showcases artworks made by children with disabilities in Japan, guided by their teachers.
Even without words, we can connect through shared feelings and creativity.
We hope these pieces will inspire both the children and the visitors to imagine a broader, more connected world.

Tsumami-Zaiku
Tsumami-Zaiku is a traditional Japanese craft dating back over 200 years.
Children fold tiny squares of fabric into delicate flower petals.
This time, we combined them with fox masks and Edo braids to create charming strap accessories.
Pâte de Verre
Pâte de Verre is a revived French glass technique with roots in ancient Mesopotamia.
Using this method, the children created shuriken (ninja star)-shaped pieces—symbols of Japan.
Enjoy the fusion of vibrant glass and traditional form.
Kimono Fabric Rolls
Kyoto, sister city to Paris, is home to Japan’s kimono tradition.
Using offcuts from these historical garments, the children rolled each piece with care and heart.
Every roll has a unique expression—feel the essence of Kyoto in your hands.
